AI use policy
We use AI to film what no camera could. These are the rules we apply to every work before it is published.
Disclosure
- Every AI reconstruction is labelled as such, in the clip itself and in its description.
- Under every clip based on a photograph or a study there is a source card: the original, the place, the date, the institution, and what was rebuilt.
- Every work has a public origin card in our Origin Record, and a QR code at the end of the clip leads to it.
People
- The place is the hero: we bring places to life; we don't put words in people's mouths.
- We don't animate the face of a public figure or anyone identifiable without official approval, and faces in rebuilt scenes are imagined and do not depict specific people.
- We don't imitate anyone's voice or identity without their consent.
Sensitive subjects
- We don't rebuild images of Makkah, Madinah or the holy rites.
- Works about security incidents are based on the announced official account, with invented features and names, and we don't publish them before approval from the relevant authority.
- We don't show injuries or explicit violence.
Rights
- We keep a rights record for every image and source, and we don't publish an archive photograph before confirming its licence.
- We don't use a protected image as input to generate a new one.
Humans decide
- The script, music, edit and final approval are human.
- A specialist reviews every scientific or historical work before it is published.
This policy follows the Ministry of Culture's guide to AI ethics in the cultural sector, and the principles of AI ethics in media.
