Verify a file
Received a video or image in the name of Balad Bytes? Drop it here to find out whether it is an original from us. The whole check runs in your browser, and the file is never uploaded anywhere.
Checking the registry signature…
How the check works
- FingerprintYour browser computes the file’s SHA-256 fingerprint, a string of 64 characters that changes completely if a single byte of the file changes.
- RegistryWe keep a public registry of the fingerprints of our original masters and of every image and video on our site, and the page compares your file’s fingerprint with it.
- SignatureThe registry is signed with an Ed25519 key that only we hold, so if a single character in it were changed, its signature check would fail.
What the check proves, and what it does not
- It proves that your file is an exact copy of something we made and published, untouched since it entered the registry.
- It does not judge other people’s files, and on its own it does not detect whether a video was generated by AI.
- Copies re-compressed by platforms do not match. Compare with the video published on our site, or ask us for the original.
